Plantin' pink tulips....again!

October is breast cancer awareness month and for the last few years, the kids and I go out and help plant tulips to remember the victims, honor the survivors and raise awareness. This year we had a great turn-out and even better weather. Last year it was snowing:-(

Every year my girls try to find whatever pink thing they own and get all dolled up for the occasion.
They got right to work digging lots of holes.

Andrea got right in the middle of all the action. The kids and I enjoyed ourselves and look forward to doing it again next year.

Corn Maze!!!

A few weeks ago the kids and I went to the corn maze with our friends Gary and LaRecia or as the kids call them Lary and GaRecia. Anyways, fall is one of my favorite times of the year. I LOVE the colors, the temperature and all the fun things we get to do. They had a HUGE hay jump.

They also had a really big super slide!

Andrea and I on the horse ride out to the corn maze!

Bizzy, Lary and GaRecia.

Here is a group shot before we entered the maze. It was a really fun night with some AMAZING friends!

Hmmmm........

I think I have kind-of run out of steam or at least the steam that I need to keep my blog updated. I LOVE to read other peoples blogs but they all seem to be going on fun trips or have really exciting things going on in their lives like moving into a new home, remodeling the one they live in or having a baby. The most exciting thing that I have to blog about is adopting 2 guinea pigs from the Humane Society and I am not sure if that is exciting or gross. The kids love them though. Well, I guess I am just thinking out loud on my blog as to whether or not I want to continue to update.........we'll see.

Service with a smile

I belong to an organization called NASW and one of the things we do is service projects. This morning we went to a children's center and did some maintenance stuff. By default, my kids end up doing the service projects with me but they always have fun.

They have gotten to know a lot of the people and look forward to going and seeing their "friends"!

Alex LOVES to supervise....and does a good job at it:-)

First Day of School

The kids and I started school again. Alexander is now in middle school and LOVES it. I can't believe that he is that old and I was a little worried about it because at back to school night, we spent the whole 2 hours trying to open his locker! I am happy to report that he had no troubles this week and made it to his classes on time! Andrea is in 2nd grade and has the same teacher that Alex had in 2nd grade. She is a great teacher and Andrea is super excited to have her. Bizzy is in 1st grade and has decided that she now wants to be called Alizabeth:-( She has a first year teacher who has lots of fun and exciting ideas. I am in my senior year at Utah State which is keeping me busy. I am doing my practicum and LOVE it. I still work as a peer advisor in the Social Work department and am enjoying my classes. We are looking forward to a great year!

Summer Dance Camp

A girl that Alex goes to school with did a little dance camp for kids. The girls had a lot of fun learning the dances.
They did a duet dance

and a dance with a group of girls their age.

This is the whole group. The girl in the vest is the one who taught all the little girls their dances. She did a really good job !

Look out Michael Phelps!

Maybe the post title should have warned Olympic divers as well! :-) Andrea got the chance to go off the high-dive and Bizzy got to dive off the side of the pool. As you can see from the picture, Bizzy has amazing form for a dive called the "potato roll" It was a favorite of mine as a kid:-)

Andrea swimming freestyle

Alex swimming the breaststroke and the butterfly

Swimming is something that I really enjoy so it is fun to watch my kids enjoy it as well. It is also nice to take the kids swimming and not HAVE to get in the pool with them.

trash & flash

My kids are real home-bodies. They LOVE staying at home. I am not complaining as a matter of fact, it pleases me that they enjoy each others company and are able to entertain themselves! Today Alex was gone so it was a girls day....make-up, glitter, dresses, purses and high heels.
I bought their shoes at the DI for $2 and they have not taken them off! We did make-overs and will be painting our nails tonight. I am not really sure where my girls got their passion for the "finer things" like make-up and high heels because I am just not that kind of girl.

I enjoy watching them play now but I am not sure I am ready for what the teenage years will bring!:-)

Alex and his tomato plants

Alex LOVES tomatoes and this year is the first year we have had a place to plant some. He got four plants of his own to plant and take care of. He faithfully watered his plants and even talked with them. :-) It is now time for him to enjoy the "fruits" of his labor

I have never grown tomatoes before but I have never seen a tomato plant produce so many tomatoes!!! Each plant has at least 20 tomatoes. We will be eating tomatoes everyday for the next little while....good thing Alex likes them!

And the winner is......ME!

My friend recently had a book giveaway on her blog and I was the winner! I am not typically very lucky when it comes to drawings but who knows....maybe things are about to change! I won Gone With the Wind and To Kill A Mockingbird. I am excited to have things to read other than textbooks. Thanks Stevi!!!

For my kids

So I recently showed my kids the blog and they LOVED it! We have looked at all the posts several times and had some good laughs. I decided ...
