October is breast cancer awareness month and for the last few years, the kids and I go out and help plant tulips to remember the victims, honor the survivors and raise awareness. This year we had a great turn-out and even better weather. Last year it was snowing:-( 
Every year my girls try to find whatever pink thing they own and get all dolled up for the occasion.
They got right to work digging lots of holes.
Andrea got right in the middle of all the action. The kids and I enjoyed ourselves and look forward to doing it again next year.

It's funny, before I even read your post I thought, "wasn't it snowing last year when they did that?" Good memory eh! I want to see them in full bloom next year!
Here's an idea. In Jax the local paper prints all the papers in pink on that Saturday and people are selling them everywhere (including all the news stands), I am sure they have a deal with the paper that proceeds go to the "fund".

What a great tradition! My aunt just got diagnosed with breast cancer last week. I have been trying to find something we can do as a family to honor those fighting now and those who have lost their battle. I really love this idea!
You are so good about involving your kids in service. I need to be better about that.
